Mining Engineering Colleges in India

Mining engineering is a division of engineering which studies the techniques for extracting minerals from natural environment that involves the energy sources, non-metallic and metallic ores and solid fuels. The mining technique involves blasting, production, processing, drilling, marketing, extraction and development. Apart from these techniques the main task of mining engineers is to check that the project on which they are working is environmentally safe and not destroying the natural environment. Mining engineers must have the knowledge about the underground and opencast coal or ore mining. This field of work has a lot of job prospects as India is the land of natural resources.
There are many institutes of mining engineering evenly spread across India. You can take up a 4 year degree course from any of them after passing the entrance exam. Few of the most famous one are:

Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad was established in 1926. ISM Dhanbad is one of the premier engineering institutions of India. It is one of the most reputed universities for technological education and research in India. From its inception in 1926 the school had a national outlook. What started as an institution to impart mining education has graduated into a full fledged technical institution of international acclaim offering programs.

Indian Institute of Technology Madras is one among the foremost institutes of national importance in higher technological education, basic and applied research. In 1956, the German Government offered technical assistance for establishing an institute of higher education in engineering in India.
